68 hours of ...... and then life goes on.

Sorry for the delay. Cathy and Steve bought us a new camera and I had a hard time getting the camera to talk to the computer, and didn't think no pictures would be acceptable.

Yes Ahonora is here she arrive Monday March 2, 2009 at 1:27 pm. She weighted 8lbs 6oz, 20 1/4 in long. Now if only her story ended there. Let me Start at the beginning.

On Sunday Christi was having contraction pretty much like she had been for the previous two weeks. At bedtime though they changed. They were still all over place though in time in between and strength so we all went to bed to wait. At 1:30am Christi felt her water go, so she woke up Donna and Nick and told them no more back and forth make up your minds on who was going with her. Donna came Nick stayed home because he had an upset stomach, that he is pretty old fashion and would rather not be in the delivery room. When Christi got to the hospital she was only dilated to 2. At 6am the nurse came in and said they had finally found Christi' file and that she had tested positive for Group B Strep, so they started antibiotics for that. Dr Chang came over around 8:30 and found Christi had only dilated to 3 so he ordered proticin. Cathy joined them at this time. At around 9:30 am the nurse came in and said that as they reviewed Christi's file it was found that in 06 she was diagnosed with Mrsa and they couldn't find where Christi had been cleared, so her and the baby were placed on isolation, meaning everyone who came in gowned-up and Ahonora couldn't go to the nursery. By the way Christi does not have Mrsa. What a pain!
Dr Chang came in at 1pm found the proticin had done the job and Christi was ready to deliver. At this time Stadol, which knocked Christi completely out. If you want details you'll have Cathy or Donna, because Christi does not remember any more than a totally freaked out drug trip, She got way to much. When Christi came to though there were giving Ahonora oxygen and shortly took her to the nursery to get her warmed up and her O2 levels up to were they belonged. It took to 4pm before they brought Ahonora to us (so much for not taking her to the nursery).
Nick brought all the kids for the afternoon to meet their new sister, when Donna went to take the kids home they cried not understanding that Mom and Ahonora had to stay the night.
On Tuesday Dr Chang Checked Christi and released her, but Dr Cassidy decided not to release Ahonora because her weight loss was a little more than was acceptable plus she was diffculty with her platlette counts, so Ahonora had to stay another night. We explained to the kids what was going on and they took Mom and Ahonora staying better then on Monday, but not real well. Christi tried spending the night alone with Ahonora but by 9:30 she called Ncik crying and had him come and stay the night.
On Wednesday the nurses kept assuring us we would be going home that Ahonora was improving, so Naya and Donna joined us at around 10 am. At 12:30 Dr Cassidy came in and said the test were not where they wanted them and that she was not releasing Ahonora to go home as we had expected. There was one more chance we could go home they would do the blood test one more time and if there was enough of an improvement then we would be allowed to go home. Nick and Christi at this point decided to go home pick-up clean clothes and the big kids. While in Bloomfield we stopped by our church as requested when we called and had them place Ahonora on the prayer chain. The ladies at our church quickly got together and made Ahonora a beautiful prayer blanket. It was good we went to pick up the kids at Fionna's school we found out that Fionna had a music performance the next day at 6. After the run to Bloomfield the kids came and hung out for about an hour then Donna took all three big kids home. Nick, Christi, and Cathy waited and 6pm they took Ahonora one more time and at 9pm just as we resigning ourselves to another night in the hospital the nurse came in and said that Dr Cassidy saw enough improvement and that we could go home. We were pack, loaded, signed out, and home by 10pm. Nick and Christi really enjoyed coming home and waking everyone with the surprise of being home.
On Thursday Nick, Christi, and Naya took Ahonora to her first weight check she was back up to 8lbs 2 1/2 oz. Later we all went to Fi's Kindergarten performance.

On Friday Nick went to work for the first time this week

On Saturday the girls had dance as usual.

On Sunday was Girl Scout Sunday so Fi ushered and did a flag ceremony.

On Monday Dreigan and Christi had God and Me

On Tuesday Nick, Christi, Dreigan, and Fionna had scouts

SO as I said life goes on with four kids and all those many things that we are committed to do.

Congrats on the beautiful baby girl! That sounded like an adventure. That was no fun at all having to stay longer in the hospital. I could never sleep in the hospital either. It sure made the nights miserable. We are happy that Ahonora is doing well now though. We can't wait to meet her! :)

Is it just me or is every time you go to have a baby the doctors get something wrong?

I'd been eagerly checking your blog for days, and am glad to read about your experiences. Ahonora seems quite at home, with cat and all. Sweet.
Love to all,
