cub scout camping

For us this week was relatively slow.
  • Monday was spent at home. The clam before the storm.
  • Tuesday had a baseball game and the finale meeting before the pack went camping.
  • Wednesday Fionna had dance practice they are in the finale push for her dance concert on June 12 th. Which reminds me if you are planning on going please let Christi know soon so the tickets can be bought and seats will be together. We also went grocery shopping for our camping trip
  • Thursday was spent packing and repacking for our camping trip and on the phone because a storm decided to come in and rain which means it was snowing in Colorado where we were planning to camp.
  • Friday Dreigan and Christi went on a field trip to Junction Creek (west of Durango). The storm dumped mixed snow and rain on us the whole time. It was so cold even the kids were begging to go back to school by lunch. Also the pack was on the phone trying to move or reschedule our camping trip. La Plata Canyon by noon had 5 inches of snow. The pack moved camping to Navajo Dam. Cathy and Steve who originally were going with us decided to stay at La Plata Canyon. They called in on Saturday and reported finale snow fall 9 inches. I hope they got a picture. Dreigan also had a game on Friday night so we didn't join the pack instead he played since his great-grandma Jennie from Washington State was in town and wanted to see him play.
  • Saturday Dreigan and Christi joined the pack camping where we hiked and hiked, climbed rocks, learned geology and plants and waded out in the cold water.
  • Sunday Nick and the girls joined camping along with all the other boys families. That was so much fun. Six families, 16 children ranging in age from 2 months to 10 years. We took all the kids back to the water to play and fish. Only one boy caught a fish , good thing we brought lots and lots food. A weird coincidence all the boys have little sisters, so we have decided to try and create a brownie troop/girl den for all of sisters so they can earn awards too.

our week in review

This week like most are crazy.
Monday- we actually got to spend it at home. Since it was windy the kids wanted to spend the time flying their new kites, which both Dreigan and Fionna had to be taught to do. Fionna worked on it for a while and went to her "new" bike. She is working really hard to learn to ride.
Tuesday- Scout night. Dreigan and Christi had pack meeting in which the final decision for our memorial day camp out id happening. Which as luck or God would have it is also where Cathy and Steve were planning to camp so the girls and Nick can join in on the fun without freezing since we only own two winter sleeping bags and it is expect to still be near freezing in La Plata Canyon at night.
Wednesday- The Dreigan and Fionna had kids Kwire at Emanuel Baptist. They only have one more rehearsal before the performance on Sunday. Nick and Christi also met with the mortgage company to start the process of buying a house.
Thursday- Dreigan was suppose to have a game but it has been rescheduled due to rain. Yeah it was going to be cold and cold games suck.
Friday- The whole family went out to celebrate Nick's first paycheck. We had dinner at the food court in the mall and then went to see Prince Caspian. Dreigan highly recommends it. Christi also had an interview for a promotion.
Saturday-The kids had dress rehearsal for the choir concert and Christi met with the other adult leaders of the pack to work out food
Sunday- The kids choir concert. Both Dreigan and Fionna have solos below is a video of them singing their Solos. Fionna has the first solo then Dreigan. Also Fionna did a great job learning and performing lines at the last minute. The little girl who was suppose to do them severely broke her arm. So Fionna stepped in as an understudy. All I have to say watch out Becca I think we have a new drama queen.

Hello to all

Okay Lara has inspired. Where else can all those great photos of Dreigan, Fionna, and Naya be shared with everyone not around everyday.
So here is the quick long and short of it.
The above picture is our last family portrait. Going clockwise there is Christi, Nick, Becca, Chris, Dreigan, Naya, Donna, and Fionna.
You say what are we up to:
Nick is working at CED electrical delivering electrical supplies to the mines and power plants in the area.
Christi works for head start as a family service assistant, which means case management, social work, and any thing to help families go from surviving to thriving. it's not as cool as it sounds
Dreigan is completing the second grade and his first year mainstreamed with just pull outs. he has severe ADHD and aspergers. He is also working on his wolf rank in cub scouts, playing his third year in little league, and sings at Emanuel Baptist's children choir.
Fionna is so excited about finishing preschool and going to kindergarten next year. She enjoys dancing Ballet and sing in the children's choir.
Naya continues to amaze us with how fast she is growing. Two and a half years goes by so fast. She does struggle with asthma it better now that we are treating it, but some days are better than others.
Last human in our household but not least is Donna. She continues to work full time will on kimo therapy and enjoys all the time she has with her grandchildren.
That just leaves our five or so cats. Pick, Sherbert, Aurora, smudge, and Starlight. We also have tow to three extra cats in our yard regularly and a litter of kittens in the shed.
