It was productive

On Palm Sunday the kids helped with service, Dreigan got a new special bible presented to him, and we dyed eggs.

Our trip to San Antonio was excellent!

We started out driving to ABQ to catch our plane to Dallas. All went well the only hiccup was the plane was fully booked so we had to take Ahonora out of her car seat and have her ride in Christi's lap (long story). At this point we decided to add another car seat to our car rental and leave the car seat with Donna rather than risk it lost or damaged being checked and place Ahonora in the snuggle pack. I wish I had a copy of the tape of us going through security. It was a comedy of errors watching us take out all bags of fluids and out shoes off plus each of us had a largish carry-on. At the Sunport we did get to go through the family line with the old metal detectors instead of the new one that make you stand still for a minute with your hands up. The kids did it anyways. We cleared security with forty minutes to spare so we grabbed a quick lunch before our flight.
We landed in Dallas fifteen minutes early giving us just over an hour to switch planes. The kids begged us for the items in the vending machines, i-pods, Nintendo DS, cameras, ect. At Dallas we had to turn Ahonora to facing out because she kept bending backwards to see everything.
We arrived in San Antonio mostly on time. All the kids are wonderful travlers. Ahonora hardly made a sound except when taxing to the terminal, Naya discovered she loves to watch out the window,Fionna had fun as always, Dreigan only threw-up once.
Dreigan tested on Wednesday and Thursday and was a real trooper. The test confirms Aspergers and added a language processing disorder, Irlen syndrome, and dysgraphia.
We also had lots of fun. We went shopping on Wednesday and everyone got new shoes. On Thursday we went to the river walk, Alamo and had dinner with Ricky and Mona at Rain Forest Cafe. On Friday Jeff, Brian, and Terri joined us at Sea World. The kids got to try to pet Dolphins.
Fionna got to touch a dolphin
Naya was splashed by a dolphin.
They also fed sea lions. We now have a pod of killer whales in out house and a new favorite animal, Shamu!
Saturday we hung out at Pat and Jeff's doing laundry and picking-up. The kids are capable of taking over any space in under a minute and they had four days.
Easter Sunday we got-up had breakfast said good bye and began the trip home. It was an uneventful comedy of errors has the trip out had been. Drei did not get sick this time though. Our two hour lay over in El Paso was very long, especially because they are remodeling so the were no shops and only one restaurant, the flight was also quite turbulent. It was windy in El Paso. Donna and Becca met us at the airport and we had dinner Becca's treat at the Chili's she works at so the she could show off the baby and we could see her employee of the month picture. Her managers both came over and talked to us.
By the by if you are wondering what Donna did all this time well she spent the week with Becca in ABQ a much needed visit for both of them. They shopped, and nested (no Becca is not prego). On Thursday they went to The Melting Pot for on once a month event they have called girl's night out. There they got very full on fondue and received each a complimentary spa treatment, Becca had a chair message and Donna received a manicure. They both now have a new favorite restaurant.

The need for speed

Last week was Bloomfield schools spring break so we had all four kids home all week. How did we fill the time well we filled it with making pinewood derby cars. On Monday after a follow-up appointment to Dreigan being sick again this time he had digestive distress for three days, Drie and Christi stop by the store to pick a few need accessories for the cars while we were there Dreigan saw a kit to make his car look like the bat mobile, so he got it. For the girls we chose decals for their cars which are their favorite stars. That evening we went over to Cathy and Steve's and cut out he cars with Steve's jig saw. Christi was smart and found on the internet templates for the kids so the cut out and traced the shape they wanted their cars to be to make cutting them faster.
All day Tuesday we sanded, painted and decorated cars, by the time scouts came around we all done except wheels. When Christi went to put on Dreigan's wheels they didn't fit. He had insisted that the fenders on the front not go out in front of the car and since he didn't follow directions and line up the axel marks so he cut off to much in the front. Well now we have a problem the wheels won't work and it is against the race rules to move the axles. Solution make a new car.
On wednesday a new car was purchased this time Dreigan had use the coping saw and cut it by hand. He then panited and decorated it again. This time he broke all his weights into little pieces, painted them and glued them on all over on the top. We don't have a router to be able to sink them ( if anyone has one and is willing to help it would be great he needs more weight still). It is a very diffrent looking car but all that hard work came in handy Dreigan came in thrid in the Pack Derby, after the three heats we had to have a run off between him and two other boys who were tied for points with him. Way to go Dreigan! We even had a parent try to say his car wasn't regulation, because it wasn't pretty and winning. What can we say we learned in Pine wood Derby aerodynamic have a lot less to do with the speed than the weight and how it is placed on the car, Naya's car taught us this. Fionna made a wedge covered with Hannah Montanan stickers. Naya made a block covered with princesses stickers. Naya won all her races too, with a block of wood in the sibling open class.
The only other thing we are doing is getting ready to go to San Antonio for 6 days for some fun and to take Drei to see a specialist.

Last happy one month birthday Ahonora.

Just for fun!
